Slideshow Displays for Business Reception Areas
A reception screen can answer routine questions before someone reaches the desk: opening hours, where to check in, or what is on the schedule. WebLight's Slideshow tool rotates text and image slides in a browser, with controls for display duration and transitions.
You need a screen connected to a device with a compatible browser. Build the slides on the device that will run the display: they save in that browser's local storage and do not sync to another screen.
Plan a Short Loop
Start with three or four slides, each carrying one message. A welcome slide, opening hours, and a short service list are enough for an initial display. Read each slide from the place where visitors will stand or sit. If you cannot read it comfortably, shorten the text and increase contrast.
A slideshow is useful for information people can catch on the next rotation. Keep urgent instructions or information everyone must see on a fixed sign as well.
Build the Slides
- Open the Slideshow tool and select Edit Slides.
- Choose a template to adapt, or select Add Slide.
- Select the slide in the list, then enter its Slide header and Slide body.
- Choose a Color background, or choose Image and paste a direct image URL or select Upload Image File.
- Select Done and watch a complete rotation before adding more content.
Keep your source text and images elsewhere as a backup. Large image files can fill browser storage; resize them to roughly the display resolution before adding them. Clearing site data or closing a private browsing session can remove saved slides. An image loaded from an external URL also depends on that host remaining available.
The slideshow help article covers templates, storage, and the editor in more detail. Tool content stays in the browser; the site's separate analytics and operational services are described in the Privacy Policy.
Set a Readable Pace
Display Duration controls how long a slide stays fully visible, from 3 to 30 seconds. Transition Duration controls the crossover, from 0.5 to 5 seconds. The time before the next slide is fully visible is the sum of those two values.
Read your longest slide at a normal pace and allow a little extra time. Try 8–12 seconds for short announcements and longer for a slide with instructions. These are starting points, not measured engagement targets.
Use fade for a calm information loop. The slide and zoom transitions are available if movement fits the display, but preview the whole loop to check that it remains easy to follow.
Example Content Plans
These are hypothetical setups, not customer case studies or reported business results.
Medical Practice
A practice could rotate a welcome message, check-in instructions, office hours, and staff introductions. Have the practice review any health information it chooses to display. Keep patient names and appointment details off a public screen.

Fitness Studio
A fitness studio could display its class schedule, instructor photos, and a guest-registration link. Prepare a QR code with the QR Code Generator, download it as an image, and use it as a slide background. Test that it scans from the viewing area and leave it visible long enough to use.

Professional Services Office
An office could show a short service list, meeting-room directions, and a reminder to have relevant documents ready. Keep deadlines and prices current, and remove expired announcements instead of letting the loop grow indefinitely.
Run the Screen Unattended
- Select Go Fullscreen on the display device.
- Move the pointer away so the controls fade out.
- Adjust the device's screen-sleep and screensaver settings for the intended display period.
- Watch one full loop from the visitor's position and check image loading, text, and timing.
The slideshow does not prevent the operating system from putting the screen to sleep. For a dedicated lobby screen, the display setup guide explains ways to connect a browser-capable device.
When Something Goes Wrong
- Slides disappear after changing computers: Content is stored in one browser on one device. Recreate the deck on the display device using your saved source material.
- An image is blank: Check that the URL points directly to an image and that its host allows it to load. Alternatively, use a local image file.
- New slides will not save: Remove unused images and reduce large files; browser storage may be full.
- Visitors miss a message: Reduce the number of slides, shorten the wording, or lengthen the display duration. A fixed sign may suit essential information better.
Review the loop when schedules or services change. A small, current set of readable slides is easier to maintain than a long presentation.
